iOS Gets Powerful MapLibre Native Due To Wet Dog Weather

Late in 2022, we got involved in bringing MapLibre, a popular open-source map toolkit, up to date on Apple products. It’s been a fascinating journey that looks to continue this year. A significant chunk of our little company is focused on it, and it’s been a boon to us in the post-investment environment ($). It’s also a good thing to do for the geospatial community.

This week, we released a working version of MapLibre Native for Metal on iOS!

Failure was always an option here, so it’s nice not to have failed! Working with Amazon, Stamen, Meta, and the MapLibre community on this effort has been a pleasure. We look forward to making MapLibre Native even better in 2024.
